Conversations into Electrical Energy

A new study shows that a mobile phone can convert sound energy to electrical energy. The longer you talk more energy is generated and the battery has a longer life. Korean scientists explain this phenomenon by placing zinc oxide and electrodes.

From hindustantimes.com:

The more you talk, the longer your cell phone battery will last – that’s the future scientists have predicted with a new technology that converts sound to electricity. Scientists from Korea have turned the main ingredient of calamine lotion into a tiny material that converts sound waves into electricity, reports Discovery News.

“Sound power can be used for various novel applications including mobile phones that can be charged during conversations and sound-insulating walls near highways that generate electricity from the sound of passing vehicles,” the co-authors added.

The sandwich was blasted with 100 decibels thus showing the production of electrical energy.

While a normal conversation has 60-70 decibel sound waves and easy to get a cell phone battery charged. It works on the same technological lines as electrical energy produces sound energy.

Tips and Precautions with Truck exhaust systemsIf you used to find science as a boring subject, vehicle science will be what will inspire you to learn more about the subject. This is because it is not only easy but highly educative and useful, especially if you own a vehicle.

One the basic principle of vehicle science is that every combustion process leads to a waste product and fuel combustion inside vehicle engine is no exception. In this regard, role of an exhaust system is highly critical since it not only improves vehicle performance but also protects precious lives inside the vehicle. Not only this, exhaust systems also prevent engine damage and ensure that your vehicle not only runs smoothly and quietly but also safely.

Since chemical compositions of gases emitted by vehicles such as trucks are harmful to the humans, the role played by an efficient exhaust system becomes all that important. By collecting the toxic fumes and channelizing them into tubing towards back of the truck, the exhaust system keeps the vehicle in optimum condition. This also means that truck exhaust systems minimize noise and even facilitate fuel economy improvements besides giving a much-needed boost to the vehicle engine and enhance overall drivability.

When opting for an exhaust system replacement, it is always suggested that you go for a complete replacement and not partial. This is simply because a new, efficient exhaust can go a long way to help you attain optimum value from your hard-earned money besides ensuring safe and smooth drives. If you want to purchase the best exhaust systems for trucks then Borla and MagnaFlow are two names that can surely be trusted. An exhaust system from any of these names is more than good enough to give your machine the distinctive edge on the road and you will never be compromising on the three most important considerations in the context of exhaust systems – style, protection, and performance.

All in all, exhaust systems are one of the most important components of your truck that can easily ensure improvements in terms of horsepower, fuel efficiency, safety, reliability, and vehicle performance.

Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss Kashmir situationThe Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) which will be deliberating on the issue of partial withdrawal of controversial AFSPA in the state hopes to break the impasse in Kashmir.

The government is expected to announce some initiatives to end the three-month-long cycle of violence in the valley after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had a threadbare discussion recently with Cabinet colleagues and senior party leaders in the Congress Core Group.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been pressing the Centre to withdraw the AFSPA from some areas of the state and announce some political initiatives. Omar, who arrived here last evening, said he was working with the Centre on confidence-building measures to restore normalcy in the Valley.

But genuine questions would arise on how the process could be carried forward if violence goes on, he said adding, it is a “chicken and egg situation — what comes first”. Faced with tough choices, the Central government is treading a cautious path over the issue which has created divisions within it.

The government is faced with strong resistance from the Defence Ministry as well as the Army for even a partial withdrawal of the AFSPA or any other kind of dilution in the controversial act which gives sweeping powers to security forces. On its part, top leaders of the BJP, who met here this evening, cautioned the Centre against any dilution of AFSPA saying this is not the time for appeasement of separatists.

The BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party), however, cautioned the Centre against any dilution of AFSPA by remarking that this is not the right time for appeasement of separatists.
